An important aspect of the League's work is when members from all over the Branch gather together. This, of course, is at the Annual General Meeting (usually held in May) and when we assemble for a Day of Reflection with our Branch Chaplain, Fr Richard Simons osb (in the summer). At the AGM we report on the work completed by the Sections in accordance with the Objects of the League and for the Day of Reflection we are led in prayer. Fr Richard is very keen that members get together socially, too, to offer friendship and support. To this end he invited everyone to Ledbury for a day simply of friendship on September 1st. The Mass of St Margaret Clitherow was celebrated, the weather was beautiful and members enjoyed a lovely lunch before setting off to visit the Anglican Church of St Michael in Ledbury and a shopping trip. It was a lovely day for everyone.

InFebruary 2010 a sponsored walk was organised on behalf of Wayne Morgan, a young man who collapsed after running in a local marathon. One hundred people took part in the walk which was held along the local Aberavon Beach in Port Talbot. £2000 was donated to the British Heart Foundation, £100 of which was from the sponsorship of
Briton Ferry Section. Peggy Hoare Davies is seen presenting the cheque to Wayne Morgan's mother Pauline. Pauline sent a letter to the section thanking us and saying that Wayne would probably be looking down on us and saying 'well done.'

Every year the Branch Officers attend a meeting with Branch Officers from all over the country. During the report from the Health Officer it was time to flex those muscles to keep the brain alert and on track. Great fun was had by all! Cardiff Branch Officers take the lead on the front row.
27th FEBRUARY 2008 was a memorable night for CWL member Peggy Hoare Davies who is Cardiff and Menevia Province Branch President. Most Catholics are only familiar with the
Bene Merenti Medal but
Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice is to honour a person who has done complementary work in the outreaches of their Parish. Mass was celebrated at Peggy’s Parish church of Our Lady of Assumption, Briton Ferry, by Bishop Mark Jabale OSB of Menevia, and concelebrated with a total of nine priests.
Members of Peggy’s family and her husband Jack, who also has the honour of Papal Knight, were much in evidence as altar servers and readers. Bishop Mark spoke highly of Peggy and her achievements, presenting her at the end of the Mass with her Medal and framed Certificate, at which the whole congregation stood up and applauded Peggy.
Wedding Bells in Ledbury
Saturday October 11th 2008 saw CWL Ledbury Section celebrate the wedding of one of their members. Brenda Wallace married Stanley Howard at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity and here you can see the happy couple with some of the members from the Section. Everyone sends Brenda and Stanley their very best wishes and lots of love as they begin their married life together.
