Dorset BRANCH PLYMOUTH DIOCESE - Formed 1997President: Mrs Carol Gregory Vice President: Mrs Margaret Walker
Branch Secretary: Mrs Marian Huckle (leaving by Christmas 2010) Branch Treasurer: Mrs Teresa Foot 6 Sections: Branksome; Dorchester; Parkstone; Swanage; Weymouth; Wareham, Wool and Lulworth(WWL)
Although the branch is of fairly recent formation one of its sections is among the oldest in the country.
There is evidence to confirm that Weymouth St. Augustine’s section started in 1920 though early records held at National HQ were destroyed by wartime damage. A History of the Section published in time for the National centenary shows the section continuously active over the decades.
Branch members outside Lulworth Chapel built 1786 and still in use today One of the highlights of the Branch year is the Lulworth Picnic held in June in the grounds of historic Lulworth Castle, home of the Weld family for centuries. Mass is said for the intentions of the CWL in the beautiful Lulworth Chapel and the picnic is held in the park afterwards in the glow of the evening sun.
2010's picnic is on Wednesday 23rd June

Buckfast Pilgrimage
In May every year Dorset joins with Devon and Cornwall branches to go on pilgrimage to Buckfast Abbey in Devon. Our bishop, Bishop Christopher says mass in the abbey for all the region's members in honour of St Margaret Clitherow. Afterwards we continue the celebration with a cream tea in the Abbey's restaurant. This year the pilgrimage was led by Dorset Branch.
Next year's date is 14th May 2011.

The branch Half Day of Recollection on 5th October 2010 will be held at Swanage. Last year's service included the Washing of Hands.
